Super middleweight Lester Martinez (16-0, 14 KO) made quite the impression in his ProBox TV debut as he earned a fourth-round technical knockout over Lucas de Abreu (14-4, 11 KO), in the main event of a scheduled ten-round super middleweight bout, from The ProBox Events Center, in Plant City, Florida.
Martinez weathered some early adversity in the first two rounds as he took a few clean shots, but his determination was undeterred. Martinez’s power was the difference in this fight as de Abreu was unable to defend against the big shots that slowly began to break him down.
In the third round, de Abreu started to get hit clean to the head. In this round, de Abreu was knocked down after a heavy right hook landed on his temple, and though he got up his legs were not steady. He would go down again before the round ended.
The fourth and final round of the fight saw de Abreu looking worse as he took a knee once again. At this point, the referee had seen enough and at 33 seconds into the 4th and final round, the bout was called off.
In the co-main event, super middleweight Najee Lopez (7-0, 6 KO) made very quick work of the usually durable Christopher Brooker (16-14, 6 KO) stopping him in the first round. Lopez landed a right hand and Brooker was unable to beat the count. Brooker seemed to believe he was hit behind the head, but that was not the case. The bout was halted just 48 seconds into the first round. Despite the fast stoppage, this was the second-fastest knockout of Lopez’s career, as he stopped Wallace Nass Silva in 29 seconds in his professional debut in 2021.
Lightweight Julio Solis (9-0, 6 KO) picked up a respectable unanimous decision win over a very tough Yesner Talavera (15-15-1, 4 KO). Solis faced professional resistance in a good developmental fight as Solis looked to close the show, but Talavera’s was unwilling to give him that honor. The three judges had the bout 80-72, all for Solis.
Welterweight Kelvin Davis (9-0, 6 KO), who is the older brother of Keyshawn Davis, stopped Derrick Whitley Jr. (7-4-1, 0 KO), in the final minute of the fourth round. Davis dropped Whitley with a body shot at the end of round two and stopped him in the fourth round. It was an exhibition of Davis’ ability to use his range and distance as a weapon.
